Spanish Food – Something to Enjoy this Christmas

As we get older we move away from a Christmas full of toys and flashing lights and into a world of practical presents: socks, bicycle lights and power tools. 'I thought that it would be better to get something you might use', muse in-laws, and our inner voice says 'I thought just once you might get me something I can enjoy'. A familiar scenario indeed, but it doesn't have to be a case of doom and gloom; plenty of people now buy each other food for Christmas, and they make great gifts for those who have had to let childhood fun go and still believe that Christmas is about revelling in and enjoying the finer and more. Spanish Food is a Great Christmas Gift Perhaps one of the most flavoursome cuisines in the world, Spanish food has plenty to offer in the way of enjoyment, and is for that reason a great addition to any Christmas stocking. With superb wines, from Riojas to Moscatel dessert wine, and excellent olives, Spanish food is a notable indulgence that can really put the enjoyment back into Christmas winters. The range of cheeses and meats in Spanish food is also impressive: for meat lovers, there's no better gift than a well preserved chorizo sausage, or some finely prepared Serrano ham, and the Manchego, Idiazabal and Murcia al Vino cheeses are some of the best in the world, and will certainly get the love and appreciation they deserve from the cheese addicts among your presents list. Christmas is a Time to Enjoy Spanish Food When stuck for something to buy those at Christmas who insist that it’s a time for enjoyment and fun, then, remember that specialist and genuinely quality food and drink are excellent luxuries that most people will appreciate, and that Spanish food is some of the best cuisine out there. The Mediterranean is so rich in cuisine, in fact, that some of its most famous exports – its meats and cheeses – are easily matched by its vegetarian dishes, such as asparagus, piquillo peppers and artichokes. For those with a sweet tooth, too, there are plenty of nuts, sweets and honeys and jams that can satisfy even the most ardent sugar fiend. Spanish Food, then, is a great example of the great gift of food, and anyone who's suck for things to buy their loved ones that they know they'll really appreciate, should think about what the Mediterranean has to offer.

Spanish food is some of the most well loved in Europe. Its collection of dried and cured meats, from chorizo and Serrano ham, to morcilla and salami, are considered second to none. And nothing beats tapas: piquillo peppers, stuffed with tuna, lamb, squid or salmon; paella, with chicken, vegetables or seafood. Topped with a good bottle of Spanish wine and some olives, Spanish cuisine is full of variety, and is both sweet and succulent, with a plethora of flavours. That spectrum of tastes lends itself perfectly to Christmas time, when everybody gets together and relishes in a joyous love of food. A culinary delight for vegetarians and fish and meat lovers, the combination of vegetarian tapas and meats is well complimented by Mediterranean delights such as artichokes, porcini mushrooms, Berberechos and artichokes. Spanish Christmas Hampers – Bringing a New Flavour to a Traditional Christmas Plenty love the luxury of a hamper at Christmas; quality wines and foods brought together in one great package, a box full of goodies that's ready to be opened as the first gift of the Christmas season. Spanish food hampers, like Spanish food, are a good way of introducing a new flavour to Christmas meals without too much experimenting; with experts selecting the items for inclusion, Christmas hampers are always certain to make for a trustworthy and well balanced selection of foods and flavours. Imagine swapping Brussels sprouts for artichokes, cold turkey for Serrano ham, and parsnips for stuffed piquillo peppers: what a way to try something different at Christmas, and what different things to try! Give Spanish Food Hampers a Try – Enjoy a Different Holiday Season Spanish food, like its Mediterranean counterparts, has a long and rich history, and yet its often eclipsed by Italian and Greek food. It is nonetheless full of interesting and unforgettable flavours that can certainly contribute to an unforgettable Christmas holiday, and beyond. The best introduction to those flavours and that rich and long history, Spanish Food hampers are great for beginners and culinary experts alike and will introduce novices – whilst reacquainting seasoned veterans – with the staple flavours that form the bedrocks of Spanish cuisine, such as those listed here: dried and cured meats, tapas, and great table foods like olives and artichokes. Spanish food is a worthy contender for the best native cuisine in Europe: get involved this Christmas with a Spanish Christmas hamper.

First, look at the wines available to you and what each one has to offer. Some traditional favorites are Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Chardonnay is a versatile white wine that combines both citrus and ripe pear flavors with a soft, rounded body and hints of spice that make it a good match-up for a variety of foods. Merlot, a popular pick, has a good fruit pop with silky raspberry and black cherry flavors that make it a great all-purpose player. Cabernet Sauvignon is the linebacker on this team, with a big, bold taste that can stand up to the spicy, rich flavors of football snacks. But don’t forget about “the ringer,” something no one will expect but that is sure to win applause, like the Shiraz-Cabernet from Stone Cellars by Beringer. This team-up of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon has the deep, black fruit flavors of Cabernet combined with a kick of spice and red currant from the Shiraz -- it’ll be a favorite for Sunday afternoons.
